Hasliberg panorama trail
The Brünig Pass links the cantons of Bern and Obwalden, that is to say the Bernese Oberland with central Switzerland. At an altitude of only 1,008 metres above sea level, the Brünig Pass is rather modest in height, but for hikers it is a worthwhile and readily accessible starting point. That's because both the road for motor traffic and the Lucerne-Interlaken railway route cross the pass. Getting there by train or PostBus is therefore the obvious choice. Hikes to the Brienzer Rothorn, the Wilerhorn and along the Hasliberg panorama trail are particularly popular. The latter begins behind the Waldegg Restaurant and initially winds its way through a fairytale-like forest. After just a few minutes we come across a sizeable so-called 'glacial erratic' made of Mittagfluh granite. An information plaque on the boulder reveals that it was "deposited by the ice age Aare glacier more than 10,000 years ago". But it isn't only large boulders that have a story to tell.
