At 3630 m, the Dammastock is the highest peak on the Rhone glacier and in central Switzerland. The ski tour über the Rhone Glacier is long, but not technically demanding (WS-).

On the way to the highest peak in Central Switzerland, you experience the entire length of the Rhone Glacier: from the ice grotto at the tongue to the highest point at 3630 m above sea level, you cover almost 11 kilometres. The Dammastock is therefore a pure ski mountain, without the speedy descent this tour would be quite tedious. The danger of crevasses falling on the Rhone glacier is also much lower with skis. However, there is only a short time window in late spring/early summer when this tour is possible, namely when the Furka Pass is fully open. The opening depends on the snow conditions and therefore varies from year to year. On the lower part of the glacier you will usually find bare ice, but at the top there are still fantastic firn conditions. The beautiful view of the glacier world and the 4000-metre peaks in the Valais are more than enough compensation for the somewhat lengthy ascent. The descent over the flat-sloping glacier is as relaxed as on a blue piste.
