Plaine Morte
The scenery on this tour is absolutely unique and extremely varied. We first pass through a fantastic, high alpine glacier scenery and then visit a hut of the Swiss Alpine Club. This is followed by a high plateau where you almost feel like you are on another planet. Looking back at the 200-metre-high rocky step below Armillon, you don't believe that it was completely (and even easily) passable. The final point is formed by two bisses (water supply channels partly carved into the rocks to irrigate the vines). The Bisse d'Ayent requires some scrambling in places. The feeder section to the Bisse de Clavau is technically demanding once again. Initially, this Bisse is also exposed and surprises with an original, very small, fortunately illuminated tunnel. The final run along the Bisse towards Sion is pure pleasure!
Note(s)
Due to the high altitude and the huge areas, there is a lot of snow for a very long time. The tour is therefore only possible from the end of July / beginning of August until the first snowfall in October.
The tour is partly alpine and only recommended for very experienced bikers. Shortly before the Wildstrubelhütte, an ice field must be passed. A wire rope secures the path over partly bare ice. The bike must be shouldered at the same time. No slipping!
The paths along the Bissen are often very narrow and exposed. The bike must always be pushed or shouldered. The tunnel of the Bisse de Clavau is very narrow. Wide handlebars can only just get through. The tunnel is illuminated.

From the mountain station, it takes about 5 minutes by bike to reach the valley station of the Plaine-Morte cable car.
