The post bus takes you from Sierre to Grimentz to the starting point of the tour. First the route is steeply uphill (at the end even the sturdiest will be pushing) to the Col des Becs de Bosson. The view of the glaciers and the entire expanse is breathtaking. Here anticipation sets in: 2300 singletrail metres of altitude.
The descent into Val d'Hérens is high, endlessly long, rough, gentle and varied, fitting for Argentina. The first section is a good rideable dirt road through the middle of stony and rough landscape. Then it gets a bit greener and a sea of alpine roses follows. Then it's over beautiful alpine meadows to Alp Lovégno where you have already mastered 800 metres of altitude. The next section leads through dense forest and the village of Suen follows. Then the trail leads through dust-dry and sparse pastureland. The trail becomes more and more fluid and finally leads to the bridge over the Borgne stream. This is followed by an ascent to the Bisse de Fan. Then it's a leisurely ride towards Vex. The final stretch from Vex to Bramois is again on a single trail.
To Sion you ride through an industrial district - what a contrast to the high alpine idyll on the Becs de Bosson!
The train takes you back to the starting point in Sierre.
- Postbus Sierre - Grimentz: you have to change in Vissoie, always with direct connection.
- Bike transport on the Postbus must be reserved in any case! There is a train between Sion and Sierre every 20 minutes or so.
