AlpnessTrail stage 2, Stierenberg - Färmel
From Alp Stierenseeberg, the trail continues to Fromatt ridge. Here the Diemtig Valley is visible on one side and the Simmen Valley on the other. You walk around the Spillgerte Massif through wooded terrain. The Alpine forest, which here is mainly made up of spruces and sycamore trees, offers the mountains pastures and settlements protection against the steep and stony mou-tain slopes. The spruce is a symbol of protection and security, and its wood is also used to build Simmental houses. At the crossing point into the Färmel Valley, the Höuweggli, there is a phenomenal view and one final steep descent lies ahead of us. The permanently inhabited settlements are attractively nestled between large sycamores in this high valley.
Highlights:
- View of the wild Mt. Spillgerte (the Simmen Valley‘s Dolomites)
- 10-minute side trip from Höuweggli to Mt. Mieschflue (2,101 m a.s.l.)
- Attentive hikers will notice large anthills near the walking trail between Veh saddle and Färmel
