Circular hiking trail - Hiking in Finstersee
From Finstersee, follow the road to the edge of the forest. On a small path, families with children reach the Mülibachfall, which is around 10 m high. This place of strength and contemplation invites you to stay with a barbecue snack and play with water and stones. In summer, the shady adventure retreat is popular with families with children. You leave the Mülibach-Tobel on the steep footpath opposite to the road back to Finstersee. Along the road you reach the Mülibach, which you follow along the forest road branching off to the right. On the ascent to Sternenweidli you will cross terrain that represents an impressive section of local historical background. In the woods to the left of your path, there were numerous mining tunnels for brown coal. The coal was used to power the first steamships on Lake Zurich. The excavations also brought to light numerous well-preserved witnesses to 30 million years of history. Fossils of exotic animals and more than 160 plant species tell of the tropical climate with lush flora and dense primeval forest that prevailed before the glaciation during various ice ages. Finally, the road leads back to the village square of Finstersee.
