Tour around Lake Lucerne

This bike tour around crystal clear Lake Lucerne starts in Beckenried. You ride along the main road to Buochs and further into historic Stans, a good place to take a quick break. Check out the Winkelried monument and the old, winding streets. Athletic types can climb up to Rotzberg (666 m) or Blattiberg (859 m) for a better view of the area.
Then it's off to Stansstad and Hergiswil, where you can enjoy the magnificent view of the lake, Mount Rigi and Mount Bürgenstock from the foot of Mount Pilatus.
Following the shore of Lake Lucerne, you will pass Ennethorw, Kastanienbaum and Haslihorn en route to Lucerne.
After you visit Lucerne's Chapel Bridge, its lakeside promenade, or the Transport Museum, the route gets tougher. You escape the traffic by conquering the steep route to Meggen via Eggen. The reward is a mountain path with beautiful vistas. It takes you to Küssnacht via Tschädigen and Allmig, featuring postcard-perfect views of the lake and Rigi.
Küssnacht was once a port city on the old Gotthard trade route. The "Hollow Lane" from the legend of Wilhelm Tell legend is quite a detour, but it's worth taking the time. Then comes a winding panoramic stretch along Lake Lucerne to mild Gersau with its palm and chestnut trees. From here you take the ferry back to Beckenried. If nothing else, the beautiful view of the huge mountains that surround the lake makes the crossing worthwhile.
