St. Beatus Caves

Go on a voyage of discovery into the magical world of water and stone in the St. Beatus Caves and listen to the sound of the water rushing and dripping. The impressive stalactite formations and the unique shapes and colours in the caves will fascinate you.

A walkway takes you from the car park through the forest up to the cave entrance. On the way, you cross several bridges while walking over the waterfall that falls out of the cave. Listen to the rushing and dripping of the water. The St. Beatus Caves are one of the most popular excursion destinations on Lake Thun. About 14 km of the extensive cave system have been explored to date. During your visit, you can explore one kilometre of the caves on your own.
 
The paths through the cave passages are secured and, thanks to modern electric lighting, are easy to walk through. Take a tour through the mighty stalactite formations and be enchanted by the unique shapes and colours in the various grottos. Inside the mountain, stalactites and stalagmites await you, formed over millions of years. Even today, the St. Beatus Caves with their inner canyons, imposing halls and bubbling waterfalls radiate a special power. Along the way, 25 information boards in German and English provide you with background information about the St. Beatus Caves. Complete your tour with a visit to the cave museum and learn exciting facts about cave exploration.

New year-round opening

The St. Beatus Caves are open daily during the summer season (April to October) and on weekends during the winter season (November to March). To note to make your excursion perfect

• Daily from 09.00 hrs, in the winter season on Saturdays and Sundays from 11.00 hrs open
• Photographing and filming permitted in the cave, tripods are not allowed and must be deposited at the ticket office
• Warm clothing recommended, cave temperature is 8 - 10°C
• Access by bus, boat or car possible
• Parking spaces available in the immediate vicinity
• Combined offers with the boat trip
