Jakobsweg from Beinwil to Welschenrohr:We took the train and bus back to Beinwil, and then followed the suggested path, winding upwards through forests and finally meadows to Hohe Winde, at 1204m the highest hill around with 360 degree views. It did, however, live up to its name of Highly Windy! The over the other side, where we had a warm soup in the Ski Hut there, and downwards through muddy cattle meadows. The final route was closed, and so we trudged down roads, through a gorge, down to Welschenrohr where we got the bus and trains back.

Jakobsweg from Welschenrohr over Weissenstein to Oberdorf:We took the train and bus back to Welschenrohr, and then walked steeply up through open woodland to the plateau at the top. On the way, Sue discovered some interesting fossils, as well as cracks in the limestone emitting cool air currents. At the top, the hotel was being rebuilt, and the farm restaurant was expensive and fany, so we had excelent sausage and chips at the cable car snack bar! The way down was very unpleasant - steep tracks with loose gravel, mud and stones. We decided to take a detour to look at the dinosaur tracks on the face of a quarry, much to be recommended, and then took a bus back to Solothurn. -
