Nature trails in Niedersimmental

The «Spiez Vineyard Sensory Adventure Trail» is an easy circular route open to visitors year-round. In the autumn, the golden colours make the vineyard particularly beautiful.

The geological trail leads around the Wiriehorn and shows the history of the formation of this landscape. It conveys interesting facts about mountain and valley, glacier and water, rock and stone.

The place of power impresses with its wild character: a moor landscape, rare alpine flowers and the red ferruginous springs act as natural energy dispensers.

Im Simmental zeugen mehrere Höhlen von menschlicher Anwesenheit in prähistorischer Zeit. Im Schnurreloch oberhalb Oberwil wurden steinzeitliche Werkzeuge und Bärenknochen gefunden. Die Höhle wird durch einen steilen Pfad erschlossen. Im Abstieg nach Weissenburg stösst man beim ehemaligen Weissenburgbad auf wesentlich jüngere, aber nicht minder interessante Spuren der Vergangenheit. Hartbelag einzig im Siedlungsgebiet.

Ein unterhaltsamer Erlebnisweg lockt ins Diemtigtal. Auf den Spuren des Grimmimutz können Familien einige unbeschwerte Stunden verbringen, anschliessend geht es auf den Wasserspielplatz.

Thanks to far-sighted local planning, the municipality of Diemtigen has successfully preserved the character of the valley's settlements. As a result of its efforts, it was awarded the Henri-Louis Wakker Prize by the Swiss Heritage Society in 1986.
