Natural monuments in Monthey

These 7 vertiginous summits, all over 3,000 metres high, dominated by the Haute Cime (3,257 m), are our ever-present guardians and have been an iconic local  landmark since time immemorial.

Natural curiosity enchanting young and old, Morgins' iron source of water, known as Eau Rouge, colors the stones of the Vièze with magnificent red colors that still intrigue walkers.

Along the river banks, enjoy a gentle walk. The path meanders through the heart of nature. Bridges and footpaths cross the river.

It sinks to the bottom Val d'Illiez to join the Rhone at the town of Monthey. It rises above Champéry, in the north and in the massif of the Dents du Midi.

Barme is one of the most beautiful sites near Champéry, a bucolic alpine valley where tranquil herds of livestock graze in flowering meadows strewn with impressive blocks of white limestone. Countless alpine creatures make their homes in the protective shade of the forests that cover steep hillsides.

From the Croix de Culet, just above the famous Champéry-Planachaux cable car arrival station, the panorama of surrounding summits is quite simply awe-inspiring.

Standing guard over Morgins, the Pointe de Bellevue is a rocky summit which offers neverending views over the Jura and Chablais Alps and Lake Geneva.

The Haute Cime is the highest point of the Dents du Midi massif.
