Die Unteralp erstreckt sich südöstlich von Andermatt im rund zehn Kilometer langen Unteralptal. Der Rossbodenstock und die Baduskette begrenzen es auf der einen, der Gemsstock auf der anderen Seite.
Die Strasse ist für Autofahrer bewilligungspflichtig. Die Alp liegt auf 1600 bis 2200 m ü. M. und dient einer Familie mit 55 Kühen und 100 Jungtieren als Hauptstafel.
