The Via Bregaglia leads through the Bregaglia valley, from alpine Maloja at 1800 metres to mediterranean Chiavenna at 333 metres. It's interesting to observe how the climate, smells and plants change along the way.

Piz Lunghin forms an important junction in the geography of the Alps. At this point the water cuts meet, which direct the runoff of precipitation on three sides: eastward to the Danube, northward to the Rhine, and southward to the Po.

In early summer 2019, a new hut trail to Capanna Sasc-Furä was opened up, as the hut trail via Val Bondasca is no longer passable since the landslide on the Cengalo. The new path is well marked in white-blue-white, longer and more demanding, but well secured in exposed places. It follows old tracks on the western side of the Val Trubinasca, where it meets the trail from the Trubinasca pass to the Sasc Furä hut.
